Founded by Ben Dayson in 1956, the company has developed some of British Columbia’s first high rises including building the very first high rise residential towers in the city of Richmond.

Ben & Esther Dayson moved to Vancouver in 1949. Together they bought the Western 5 & 10 cent store in Marpole. In 1951 they built their first apartment building in the West End in downtown Vancouver.

Mr. Dayson remained a formidable force in the real estate community his whole life, but made a name for himself by building the very first high-rise residential towers in Richmond that still stand today on Minoru Boulevard. He also received acclaim for the award winning Worker’s Compensation Building on Granville and No. 3 Road.

Ben Dayson passed away at the tender age of 100, doing what he loved most, walking through a potential acquisition. The company has transitioned and grown into one of the largest privately held office, commercial and industrial portfolios in Western Canada and retains its head office presence in Vancouver.

Today, Dayhu continues to build and grow its portfolio with the same passion and humility. The company is now led by his grandson Jonathan Barnett, President and CEO, the third generation of family who worked alongside Mr. Dayson for over fifteen years.
